In the PNW, we have beautiful lush forests, impressive mountains, the best coast, and lately, some very smokey summers. It’s been one more reason to wear a mask and stay inside, but has made for some absolutely stunning sunsets. One couple brave enough to get out in the haze was Heather and Chris. We met up at Lincoln Park in West Seattle where our little drink cooler came in handy again as we got to know each other before the shoot.
We usually have great luck planning our shoots around the sunset. In the summer, that means starting at 7pm or later. The smoke throws a wrench in the whole planning thing. With a thick layer in the air that changes with the wind, you could lose your light before the sun fully sets, and blue hour is just dark. We met pretty early with Heather and Chris, and waited until the light was just right before we jumped into shooting. We were rewarded with the loveliest haze as we walked around for the rest of the evening!
